Designed by the Lismore Architect FJ Board this building housed the Bank of NSW and the manager’s residence. The bank closed its operation in Alstonville in 1942 and the after the war the building was sold to the Gough family. They lived in the residence and then rented the banking chamber back to the Bank of NSW. The bank operated from these premises until the 1950’s and the Gough’s rented the space to a succession of doctors. While few of the original bank fittings remain you can still see the original safe and the etched doors with the words “Bank of New South Wales”.
